Students from overseas wishing to enroll in clinical electives at Nippon Medical School

Requirements: Applicants must have a good academic record and be in their final year of studies leading to an M.D. degree (or equivalent) at a recognized medical school/department. Fluency in either English or Japanese is required.

Calendar : Please refer to the list of departments offering electives for information on when programs are available.

Deadline : 1 year to 6 months prior to the starting date of the program.
Documents : Please submit the following documents, in English, to kokusai@nms.ac.jp.

  1. Curriculum Vitae
  2. Personal statement outlining the objectives and reasons for undertaking an elective at NMS
  3. Proof of proficiency in English (if English is not your first language)
  4. Official academic transcripts from your university
  5. The recommendation letter (acceptable only from the Dean of the faculty of medicine or the President of the university)
  6. Full immunization record (Please use the Health Screening Assessment )
  7. Copy of travel insurance or your private health insurance card/plan which has the international coverage
  8. One photograph of yourself (there are no restrictions regarding the size of the photograph)
  9. The certificate of COVID-19 vaccine for all doses you have ever taken
  10. Copy of Passport

Housing : We offer 18 dorm rooms for students and researchers from overseas. When the rooms are fully booked, we assist you in finding accommodations
Tuition : 50, 000 yen per 4-week program, to be paid in full upon arrival.
